Couch Surfing – Creating a Better Travelling Experience

What occurred next has proved pivotal to my recent travelling experience. With time to plan but a general dissatisfaction with the time I was having in hostels I remembered Jesse from Vegas and his enthusiasm for Couch Surfing. I spent time adding to my profile to try achieve an accurate and representative description of myself and I then searched through the profiles of people who were offering couches in the Fort Lauderdale area.

Essentially CouchSurfing.org is an online social network of people wanting to meet and to help other people, specifically travellers. I would say it is loosely based on a pass it forward principle where you don’t help someone with the expectation that you will be paid back by them, but rather for the pleasure of helping and to help build a community which may be able to help you out at some future time.

CouchSurfing.org now has an international online database of likeminded people, people who want to make a difference in this world. Travellers, people open to new cultures, open to new ideas, interested in languages and different attitudes. People who are willing to go out of their way to help people they do not know. People with trust, people with faith, people with love. Essentially, to the best of my knowledge, CouchSurfing.org has the best available database of people I would like to meet.

If you’re not already a member sign up [Here], complete your profile, offer your couch to travellers and add me as a friend. Meet some new people, I highly recommend it.
