We drove to the North of Wisconsin where my sister was working in a summer camp in what I consider the ‘lake district’ of Wisconsin. I can really see why this area is popular with so many summer camps for kids; there are so many lakes and the weather was beautiful for swimming and outdoor activities.
We met my sister at her camp and were given a tour of the camp environment. It was lovely catching up with Sophie; I hadn’t seen her since the snowy winter-land of Banff and now we were in a beautiful part of Wisconsin with so many lakes and sunny days. Amazing contrast.
Sophie and her friend Meadows hopped in our camper and we all headed for a day of lounging around in the sun at Crystal Lake – highly recommended if you’re ever in North Wisconsin.
It really was a fantastic lake for the weather, we just chilled out, ate some snacks and drank beer. When we felt too hot on the beach we’d go for a swim. If we felt too lazy we’d throw a ball around for a bit. If we felt too wet we’d dry off on the beach. It’s nice to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. I can only imagine what I would have given for this lake during some of the sweltering heat of Utah and Minnesota – If you haven’t already watch the video of me showering in a sprinkler – yes, I would have given a lot for a lake…
They even have turtles in this Wisconsin paradise! This little nipper surfaced near us while we were playing a little catch. Have to say I was rather surprised.
Later we caught the weekly water show put on for donations in Minocqua Lake by the Min-Aqua-Bats.

The pics look great and I really liked the turtle.
Thanks 🙂 The turtle was really cool, so unexpected – happily bobbing around the lake with us…
I love looking at the turtle nice sharing of post..
Thanks for your comment Tricia. Apparently there are quite a few different species of turtles in Wisconsin, quite interesting.
Sounds like a lot of fun 🙂
Yes, it was a nice catch up
