After white water rafting we departed for Munich. We only had a little free time to explore Munich so I made the most of it and went to the BMW museum, after all Germany is known for BMW (Motorcycles), Porsche (Cars) and Adolf Hitler.
While in Munich I also managed to take some photos of Marienplatz, the main square and Glockenspiel, the ‘electrifying’ cathedral display.
After our free time we went and checked into our hostel before moving getting back on the coach and heading to the optional Bavarian Beer Hall experience. We were going to be drinking at one of the most famous beer halls in Munich, the Munchner Haupt’; we were seated at a long table in a large hall filled with our group plus probably two other Contiki coaches. The service was very slow (the entire night) but I eventually got my first 1 litre stein of beer which I proceeded to down before half of my table had even received theirs, what a champion!
The optional Bavarian Beer Hall experience included one stein of beer plus dinner and entertainment. The meal I ordered was the Roasted Pork Knuckle which was reasonably good (a little dry) however others had ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu which looked like it had just come out of the freezer; appalling. For the entertainment there were girls singing, dancing and playing bells in traditional Bavarian dress.
Overall it was a fun night, but not for the beer connoisseur as only one beer was being served, I don’t think they even bothered to tell us what type of beer it was!
