Sioux Falls

Very Short Post – A Few Photos

We went to Sioux Falls hoping to take some nice waterfall shots. We really didn’t have any luck but I did enjoy photographing the texture of the tiny floating leaves which congregate in the small rock pools around the river area.

We visited Sioux Falls thinking that there was something interesting here. I thought it was the location of some important historical event regarding the native Sioux Indians. Regrettably we didn’t really find anything.

Sioux Falls is notable for having no corporate income tax, so it is home to a number of large financial institutions like Wells Fargo and Citigroup – and that is about it.

I may actually have got Sioux Falls confused with the Wounded Knee area where the tragic Wounded Knee massacre occurred. If you’re in the mood for a decent movie portraying a depressing piece of North American Indian history check out Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. We watched this while in Badlands National Park. The massacre where 150 men, women and children of the Lakota Sioux were killed by the US military actually occurred on an Indian reservation a little south of the national park.
