Sun, Fun and Siestas in Spain

Spain is a hugely popular holiday destination; British holidaymakers are particularly taken with the laid back Spanish vibe – including that famous Spanish staple – the siesta! Whether you are after a sun-drenched beach getaway or a sophisticated city break, Spain does both exceptionally well. Holidays to Spain are ideal for those wanting to travel abroad to a sunny destination but who don’t want the long haul flight; you can fly to Spain in just 2 hours from London airports.

Fun, sea and sun are what spring to mind when we think of the Costas. From basking on a yacht and sipping cocktails in Marbella to wind-surfing in the transparent waters of the Costa Brava, there’s no shortage of all three.

The Costa Brava is full of bustling resorts and gorgeous beaches, there’s something to suit all types here. Families will love Tossa De Mar with its two stunning Blue Flag beaches and seafront restaurants. There are many watersports to choose from and the clear waters at Mar Menunda are perfect for snorkelers.

For couples after a romantic, peaceful haven or anyone who just wants a truly relaxing break, head to Pineda, Costa del Maresme. This place takes life at a slower pace, the wide sandy beach is not usually crowded – you can find your own little quiet spot to simply relax – perfect for losing yourself in a good book! The quaint houses and cobbled streets give the town lots of character and it’s not short on good restaurants either. Just don’t expect a clubbing scene here!

If you’re looking for a bargain holiday in Spain filled with sunshine and party nights then Benidorm may be for you. One of the biggest resorts on the Spanish Costas, Benidorm certainly doesn’t do ‘low key’! It strikes you upon arrival with tall skyscrapers and neon lights, look closer and you will find lashings of British pubs, karaoke bars and hotels laden with entertainment. But it’s not just the party night’s people come for, the two beaches here are magnificent and the old part of town throws in some tradition too.
