Last Day in Thailand

28 May 2010

This morning walking along the streets of Haadrin (Koh Phangan) it was impossible not to notice the increase in people for the Full Moon Party; the party would appear to act like a magnet, attracting tourists from throughout Southeast Asia for this one big night [tomorrow night].

On one hand it seems like a big stuff up to be leaving on the day of the Full Moon Party but on the other hand I really don’t expect it to be that much different to what happens tonight, last night and every other night on these party islands. Yes there will be more people, yes the party will be on a bigger scale; but fire shows, dancing, buckets, it’s all the same and I’m really looking forward to our move on to Europe.

We depart Koh Phangan at 1pm tomorrow however we get picked up by taxi and 11am. It’ll be just over 12 hours by taxi, boat and bus to get to Bangkok arriving just as the day starts (0030 30 May 2010). We’ve yet to decide whether we’ll spend a few hours sleeping before getting up for our 8.35am flight to Dubai and then on to London; or whether we’ll just take a taxi straight to the airport after our bus ride. At this stage I’m leaning towards the taxi straight to the airport.
