“It’s not wrong, it’s just different”

“It’s not wrong, it’s just different”

Ray cracked out this saying from day one of our European adventurer, as a precursor for events to come and no doubt with the intention of instilling a calming effect on our group.

It’s not wrong, it’s just different. Essentially chill out and go with the flow, some may say ‘acuna matata’. It works, there is now no cultural oddity or bizarre custom which we cannot handle on our travels; after all, it’s not wrong, it’s just different.

Examples of things we have deemed ‘not wrong’:

  • Eating snails and frogs legs – Paris, France
  • Beer being cheaper than soft drinks – Spain
  • Festival atmosphere getting busiest after 1am – Barcelona, Spain
  • Having to queue to pay, then queue again to request the food you’ve paid for (occasionally in two separate locations) – Italy
  • 12.5% tip + 10% cutlery charge printed on bill despite (or because of) both food and service being poor – Venice, Italy
